FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What triggers a DPMSR in the UAE?+
A Dealers in Precious Metals and Stones Report is required when a dealer carries out a cash transaction, or linked cash transactions, at or above AED 55,000 with a customer. The report goes to the FIU through goAML and is separate from any suspicion-based reporting.
Who has to file DPMSRs?+
Businesses dealing in gold, diamonds, precious stones, jewellery and similar high-value goods that handle qualifying cash transactions. These dealers are DNFBPs and must also be registered on goAML and the Ministry of Economy SACM platform.
Does a DPMSR mean we suspect the customer?+
No. A DPMSR is a threshold report triggered by the cash amount, not by suspicion. If you also suspect money laundering, that requires a separate STR or SAR in addition to the DPMSR.
What about deals split to stay under AED 55,000?+
Linked or structured transactions that are clearly one deal split to avoid the threshold should be treated together and reported, and may also be suspicious. We help you identify and handle structuring correctly.
