FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a SAR and an STR?+
A Suspicious Transaction Report relates to a specific transaction you find suspicious. A Suspicious Activity Report covers suspicious behaviour, conduct or an attempted dealing where no transaction may have completed. UAE law requires both to be filed on goAML without delay once suspicion arises.
How quickly must a SAR be filed?+
As soon as suspicion is formed. There is no waiting for more transactions or for certainty — a reasonable suspicion is the trigger. Delay in filing is itself a compliance failure, so we move quickly once the grounds are clear.
Can we tell the customer we filed a SAR?+
No. Tipping off the subject of a report is a criminal offence under UAE AML law. The relationship can often continue normally on the surface; we help you manage it without disclosing that a report was made.
What if we are not sure it is really suspicious?+
The test is reasonable suspicion, not proof. If something does not add up after due diligence, the safer and legally correct course is to report. We help you weigh the red flags and document the decision either way.
