FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between KYC and CDD?+
KYC — Know Your Customer — is the identity-gathering part of onboarding. Customer Due Diligence is the wider process of verifying that information, identifying beneficial owners, understanding the relationship and assessing risk. UAE AML law requires both, with enhanced due diligence for higher-risk clients.
When is Enhanced Due Diligence required?+
EDD applies when risk is higher — politically exposed persons, clients from high-risk jurisdictions, unusually complex or large transactions, and any case where standard checks raise concerns. It means deeper verification, senior approval and closer ongoing monitoring.
How long must we keep KYC records?+
UAE AML/CFT law requires customer and transaction records to be retained for at least five years after the business relationship ends. We structure files so they remain complete and retrievable for the full period.
Do we have to re-check existing customers?+
Yes. Due diligence is not a one-off. You must keep customer information up to date and review it periodically, more often for higher-risk clients. We build that ongoing monitoring into your process so files never go out of date.
